Cam Earven The Print Life
Founder & Screen Printing Operator
Manual screen print shop veteran who vlogged real shop floor life on YouTube, invented the first self-serve customer quote builder to eliminate the order bottleneck, and scaled a small shop to nearly $1 Million/year on two manual presses. After major workflow and press experimentation, we transitioned down to a single all-heads-down manual press with a 3-man crew—hitting production output numbers that rivaled industrial automatic presses.
From Manual Press Grinds to the Software That Changed Everything
I ran a manual screen printing shop and vlogged my real life on the shop floor on The Print Life YouTube channel. Like every passionate apparel decorator, I loved the craft, but I was constantly drowning in the single biggest bottleneck every shop faces: customer quoting and endless back-and-forth communication.
I tried every available software platform on the market at the time—starting with Printavo, and then moving to InkSoft. But none of them solved the real problem. InkSoft pushed complex online design labs, but no real customer ever used that bloated design lab. It was way too complicated for everyday clients—if someone wanted an online browser canvas, they just went to Custom Ink. Our actual customers had their artwork and just wanted a fast, accurate price without the confusion.
I spent hours every single day answering emails, calculating custom pricing on spreadsheets, answering phone calls, and recalculating sizes every time a customer changed their mind. It took me away from printing, away from training my team, and drained all our momentum.
What print shops and customers actually needed was a clean, step-by-step customer-facing tool that let clients price and place orders intuitively. Out of pure necessity to save my own shop, I built the very first version of the software for myself and rolled it out.
“This one tool completely changed the direction of my shop. Orders rolled in on autopilot without needing to answer endless emails or talk to customers more than once. I would walk my customer through using the quote builder just one time—from there, they would place repeat orders without even reaching out. It was a complete game-changer.”
Once that customer quoting bottleneck was solved, I was able to direct 100% of my energy toward supporting my team and perfecting our production flow. In our small shop, we did nearly $1 Million per year in revenue on just two manual presses.
Now, I've packaged that exact battle-tested operating system into The Print Life so every print shop owner can stop answering quoting emails all day, protect their margins, and build a high-profit business for a flat $49/month with unlimited users.
