What is Dye Sublimation Transfer?

A digital print process where disperse dyes printed on transfer paper turn directly from solid to gas under heat (400°F) and permanently bond into synthetic polyester polymers.

Deep Dive & Practical Application

Sublimation ink contains heat-activated disperse dyes suspended in liquid. Artwork is printed mirrored onto specialized high-release sublimation transfer paper.

When heat-pressed against 100% polyester fabric at 385°F–400°F with firm pressure for 45–60 seconds, the synthetic polymer fibers expand and open up, while the solid dye sublimates into a gas.

The gas penetrates the open polymer chains. When removed from heat, the polymers close, trapping the dye inside the fiber. The result is a vibrant print with 100% breathability, zero tactile feel, and permanent resistance to cracking or peeling.
