What is Hot Peel vs. Cold Peel Film?

The chemical release coating characteristic on DTF PET film that determines whether the film carrier can be peeled off immediately after heat pressing (hot peel) or must cool completely first (cold peel).

Deep Dive & Practical Application

Hot Peel DTF film features a specialized thermal release layer that releases from the melted TPU adhesive within 1 to 3 seconds of opening the heat press (at 285°F–320°F). This allows decorators to press, peel, and pack garments in rapid succession, doubling production speed.

Cold Peel DTF film requires the transfer to cool completely to room temperature (typically 30–60 seconds) before peeling. While slower, cold peel provides maximum edge sharpness on ultra-fine raster halftones and textured fabrics.

Hybrid Instant Warm-Peel films offer a compromise, allowing peels within 5–10 seconds.
