During dye sublimation and DTF curing, vaporized dye gas and moisture escape from the transfer. If no protective barrier is used, the dye collects on the Teflon heat press upper platen or lower silicone pad.
On the next press cycle, this residual trapped dye will transfer onto the new garment, creating permanent ghost shadows and ruining the piece.
