In DTF and heat transfer decoration, proper heat press calibration requires balancing the "Three Pillars of Transfer Application": Time, Temperature, and Pressure.
If pressure is too light, the melted TPU adhesive sits on top of fabric fuzz and will peel off after 2 to 3 laundry cycles.
If pressure is too heavy, the adhesive is squeezed completely out of the edges, causing thin spots and adhesive haloes. Most DTF transfers require medium-firm pressure (40–60 PSI on pneumatic presses or a firm two-hand clamp on manual clamshell presses) at 300°F for 12–15 seconds, followed by a 5-second post-press with a silicone sheet.
